Join Learning Disability England for the launch of Funding the Gap, a joint report into the funding of self-advocacy.
About this event
The Funding the Gap report is about how self-advocacy groups for people with learning disabilities are funded.
This is important because lots of groups have closed because they do not have enough money, and others are struggling to survive. We want more self-advocacy groups to grow and stay strong.
We interviewed members of self-advocacy groups and commissioners in 2021. At the launch, we will talk about what we found out. Members of the project Advisory Board will also give their opinion. We will offer tips for self-advocacy groups, for commissioners and for funders.
The session will include a presentation, followed by a chance for everyone to have a discussion.
Speakers:
You will hear from members of the research team and representatives from Learning Disability England, including:
Shaun Picken, Lorna Rouse, Liz Tilley and Jan Walmsley from the Open University research team.
The full report will be available on the day of the launch.
