Item 1. SNEE Winter Vaccinations

  • You said
For the Respiratory Syncytial Virus, why is the age for the vaccine 75-79? What happens if you’re 80?
  • Response
You’re less likely to build up the immunity if you’re over 79.
  • You Said
Can social care workers and people that they support get the vaccinations at the same time?
  • Response
Yes, we would be happy to support this.
  • You Said
What’s the difference between the Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccine and Flu vaccine?
  • Response
The vaccines target two different virus types.
  • You Said
Do the vaccines stop you from getting colds?
  • Response
No, they don’t stop you from getting colds, but they prevent serious complications and getting so ill that you might have to go to hospital.

Item 2. Dental Plans

  • You said
    What is a dental emergency?
  • Response
A dental emergency is more when someone has an accident with their teeth. Where as urgent care may be where someone has excruciating dental pain such as an abscess.
  • You Said
What’s the typical person you would get on the DPASS list? DPASS stands for for ‘Dental Priority Access and Stabilisation Service’ which means you will get dental care as quickly as possible.
  • Response
We have not looked at this information yet, but it is in progress and can be updated at a later date.
  • You Said
What about domiciliary dentistry? Domiciliary dentistry provides dental treatment at home for those patients, who cannot, through physical or mental disability, reach a dental surgery.
  • Response
One of the areas we’re looking at is how do we make sure everyone has access to dental care. This includes housebound people and people in care home settings.
  • You Said
What about domiciliary dentistry? Domiciliary dentistry provides dental treatment at home for those patients, who cannot, through physical or mental disability, reach a dental surgery.
  • Response
Some services are commissioned for patients who cannot get to a dental surgery, but more needs to be done. Some colleagues in Essex have launched a service where dental teams go into care homes and assess everybody, identify who might need more care, and provide care in their homes.

  • Response
Part of the DPASS is about asking for and getting feedback, we do need to work on getting feedback from high-street dentists. We often ask what people’s experience are and whether they would recommend it to family/friends, but it needs to be asked more in dental practices.
  • You Said
What about people’s experiences? Are there ways to give feedback?
  • Response
We now have a nurse working with us that specialises in dental quality and patient experience. So we understand where we are now and what we need to do to improve.
  • You Said
Do dental practices have training for working with people with learning disabilities?
  • Response
It’s early days but it seems like they may have the same training needs as doctors, community pharmacist, etc, for their learning and development.

Item 3. Expo 2024

  • Kat Murray from Ace Anglia talked about the Suffolk Health and Care Expo 2024.
  • Kat said It was a great day to connect with other organisations, share information and see the progress that everyone is making.

Item 4. Restore 2 Mini

  • Alison Sadler from Suffolk and North East Essex did a presentation about Restore 2 Mini. RESTORE 2 Mini is a tool for care homes, people who live in supported living and supporting people who live in their own homes to spot when people’s health is getting worse Presentation on page 44.
  • Restore 2 Mini was a useful resource when reporting to the GP. It enabled us to get GPs and nurses involved instead of having to go to hospital.
  • You Said
Does Restore 2 Mini have signs of constipation (problems pooing)?
  • Response
Unsure, this can be looked into further.

Item 5. The Next Suffolk People First

  • Chewy from Ace Anglia talked about the next Suffolk People First on 29 November 2024. It is all about health and has speakers talking about cancer, cancer screening and menopause.
  • –
  • You Said
What will the conferences link to next year?
  • Response
My health, my home and my voice. We’ve already planned that the my voice Suffolk People First will focus on employment.

Item 6. Any Other Business

  • You Said
If I have NHS number could these (Health Passports) be uploaded onto the system? Sometimes they seem to go missing so I don’t always want to refill them for each visit.
  • Response
Yes, it should be on the system and you should be able to take them home with you. There are many systems at the moment but we should be changing over to one system.
  • You Said
Is there a way to make these health passports more general so not just for autistic people and people with learning disabilities? For example, dementia patients, people with English as a second language.
  • Response
Anyone can use the current health passport. If it helps you, then use it. There are a lot of similar things to a health passports just with different names.
  • You Said
It might be worth someone from Ace looking to see if there is an easy read version and if they collect them into some sort of folder they can take their files wherever.
  • Response
We haven’t made an easy read health passport, but we might be able to co-produce something like this. We have got easy read versions of annual health check surveys and we could collect them into some type of folder.
