Support for the vulnerable in our communities

Partners from across Suffolk have come together to specifically respond to the needs of vulnerable people in our communities affected by the virus. Known as the Collaborative Communities Covid-19 Board, they are responsible for housing, emergency food parcels, foodbanks and providing help and support through the ‘Home, But Not Alone’ phoneline and volunteers.

Each week the phoneline (0800 876 6926) takes approx 1,000 calls, which results in support given to thousands of vulnerable people, such as food or medicine deliveries.

This week the board has found temporary homes for 55 individuals or families who needed urgent help and is arranging emergency food packages for 90 families, identified on the Government’s shielded list.

They continue to work closely with the 42 foodbanks, including the distribution of £130,000 to foodbanks from the Suffolk Community Foundation Emergency Fund.
