The Voice You Never See

Sharing details of a new disabled community arts project, ‘The Voice You Never See’.

This project is run by Suffolk-based group Poetry People and funded by Suffolk County Council’s COVID Continuity Fund for Culture.

The project has commissioned a new video poem by Karl Knights, a young Suffolk-based disabled poet Poetry People has been supporting and championing for over a decade.

Karl will be gathering material for ‘The Voice You Never See’ through a series of Zoom or phone conversations with disabled Suffolk residents, about their experiences of COVID-19 and how it has changed their everyday lives.

Poetry People is a Community Interest Company established in 2017 by co-directors Dean Parkin (dubbed ‘Suffolk’s unofficial poet laureate’) and Naomi Jaffa, with support from Michael Laskey and Jeni Smith.

The group brings poetry to people and people to poetry, often for the first time.
