Your care, your way

Clear, understandable information is important to help you make the right health and care decisions. Join this national Healthwatch campaign, and have your say on what needs to change.

Everyone should be told about healthcare in the way they need it. ‘Your care, your way’ aims to:

  • Find out how well health and care services deliver the Accessible Information Standard.
  • Help people to know their rights to accessible information from services.
  • Find out who else has problems understanding information about their healthcare and needs to be covered by the Standard in the future.

How you can support the campaign

Have your say

You can help us by taking part in this national survey. It’s being hosted by Healthwatch England, but the anonymous feedback will be shared with us so that we can use it locally. We’ll be using the feedback to inform local services, and it will inform a project we’ve got planned for later in 2022.

Healthwatch England will use the data to challenge for change to national Government and NHS policy – and to inform the future development of the Accessible Information Standard.

Know your rights

If you have a disability, impairment or sensory loss, NHS and social care services are required to make sure you receive information you can access and understand under the Accessible Information Standard (AIS).

The AIS is mandatory for all organisations that provide NHS or adult social care. Here’s some key information about the accessible communications you should expect from services.
